sulfuricacid2.gifWhat is sulfuric acid rain?
Sulfuric acid is made naturally from the oxidation of sulfuric minerals. It is a very strong acid. It is one of the most selling products of the chemical industry. A couple years ago World productions made 165 million tons. many proteins are made of sulfur-containing acids. Sulfuric acid was discovered by a chemist named Jabir ibn Hayyan.

Sulfuric Acid (H²SO⁴). Acid rain is a term for rain, snow, sleet, or other wet precipitation that is polluted by such acids as sulfuric acid and nitric acid [1]. Although sulfuric acid is corrosive, it is used in many processes. [5]

How is sulfiuric acid form in a natural environment?
Sulfuric acid can sometimes be formed during volcanic eruptions. Sulfur trioxide can dissolve in rain water to create sulfuric acid. [5]

How does sulfuric acid get into acid rain?
Acidity usually gets in because of human emissions and air pollutants. Mostly sulfuric acid gets in becauese of factory pipes or the pollutant of cars.

Where is sulfuric acid usually produced?
Usually you can find sulfuric acid in the upper atmosphere of Venus. in the cooler, upper portions of Venus sulfuric acid is a liquid.

What is it used for?
Sulfuric acid is used in alcohol, paper, glue, rubber, paints, dyes, fertilizers, and plastics. [6]

How is it a problem? Sulfuric acid rain can pollute the air because it is cause by coal burning and other power plants. If sulfuric acid touches your skin usally you body will start to burn.[7]

Properties of Sulfuric Acid:
-Appearance: colorless viscous liquid
-Melting Point: -2°C
-Boiling Point- 327°C
-Density: 1.849 g/mL

Facts About Sulfuric Acid:
-Reacts violently with water
-Water soluble in all proportions
-Extremely corrosive and causes severe burns
-Harmful if inhaled, ingested, or if it comes in contact with skin [3]
- Sulfuric acid rain comes from coal burning and other power plants[8]
