In Letters to the editor, it says that the "recipe" for killing fish is:
-Take one river of cool water with lots of fish and oxygen.
- Add a few tons of sediment.
- Stir, then bake in sun until brown and warm, there will now be less oxygen.
- Watch those fishies float.
In "Fish Could be in Hot Water", scientists say that warm water could be killing the fish, (rising temperatures).
In "Local Farmers May be Overgrazing", it says that farmers are devoting more land to grazing sheep. Environmentalists say that this can damage plant cover.
In the chart in the Sediment Files, it says that the Misterssippi and Fo Rivers,and James Pond had dramatic changes in the temperatures in the past 5 years compared to the other years, (starting at 20 years ago).
In "Clamor About Clear Cutting", its says that clear cutting trees is being allowed, but that is is less environmental than selective cutting.
In the letter from Anton Alogue, it's saying that he would like the clear cutting in the Rafta area to be "salvage".
Sediment Pollution can cover the bottoms of rivers, leaving no holes for fish to lay eggs, smother the eggs of water insects and suffocate them, clog fish gills, it can make it hard to grow water plants, and it can darken the water, making it absorb more of the sun's heat.
