OVERPOPULATION

When a group of species or animals is too high for their habitat to support or contain; when too many of one type of animal live in an area that can't help or care for them [1]
-For example if a population of 10 deer live in the forest and the forest only has enough food for 7 deer, then this is overpopulation [2].
Some examples of causes of overpopulation are:
  • Birth increases (of one certain species) [3]
  • Immigration increase (when animals outside of an area come to the area and start living there) [3]
  • Predator decreases (when an areas main predators start dying out) [3]

Resources that the animals need to survive are: [4]
  • Water
  • Food
  • Shelter
  • Air
If overpopulation happens in a place then there will be more food bought or eaten which makes there less food for the next day and since there are more organisms trying to eat less food then they need to eat which makes them eventually die of starvation.[5]
