All food chains start with the sun then the producers (plants that make their own food through photosynthesis) next are the consumers. Each of these groups depend on each other to survive so if all the producers suddenly disapear then it will send a ripple effect through the food chain causing crashes in the consumers so as you can see the food chain and the carrying capacity are closely related.[3] On the food chain, the energy passes through each organism, and gets less each time it progresses, an organism eats another. Since the mountainis at the pretty high end of the food chain, it does not get as much energy as the deer or the grass. Elmo Skeeto is the suspect, and represents the hunters in Parrell Park.[4] He is related to the food chain because 6 years ago he and all the hunters were allowed to hunt mountain lions. Because of the hunting there are less mountain lions so less lions are eating the dear, causing the dear to increase in population and so the overpopulated deer eat the producers or plants which are holding in soil. The loss of plants causes two things one is that the deer overgraze and eat all their food supply. The second is the soil that was being held by the plants (producers) is now eroding into the nearby water ways causing sediment polution. Everything has an effect on something causing a ripple effect throughout the food chain. That is one reason that people are so concerned with engdangered species and extinct.species efect on other organisms.[3]
