What is a detective?

Detectives don't always have really big jobs. Sometimes they investigate household items.A detective is a person that asks questions and gets information on the mystery case they are trying to solve. A detective obtains information and evidence of a case.
-A detective is an investigator.
-A detective is someone that works hard and dedicates their life to solving mysteries.
-A detective is a person who investigates crimes and gathers information. [1]

They gather clues and evidence to solve the mystery or crime. Sometimes there are such things known as red herrings. They are clues that lead the detective away from the conclusion of the mystery/crime. A detective is someone who investagates a crime and trys to find the person who did it.
A detective solves a mystery and see's who or what did it. A detective also depends on other people to help find clues, solve mysteries, and protect their lives and belongings. They might also be known as "gumshoes" or "flatfoots". Detectives are in an appointed position, and it is not reached or achieved by passing a written test. [2]

A detective is what we are in class right now. When we are trying to find what is killing the fish, we are investigating and being detectives in the case.[3]

A detective is a person whose job is to obtain information and evidence, as of offenses against the law.[5]

A detective is some one who finds clues and investigating to solve a mystery.He or she also observes and infers. In this case a detective would be looking for who killed the fish.[4]
